Easy Crochet Beanie Pattern- The Western Bay Beanie

If you are looking for a super easy crochet beanie pattern that works up quickly but still looks great- you’ve found it! The Western Bay Beanie is a sister to my popular Western Bay Earwarmer pattern. For this pattern I’ve repeated those same simple textured stitches but I’ve added a second strand of yarn that makes this piece EXTRA thick. This has been my go to hat to wear all winter here in the bitter cold of Northern Michigan! I’m a girl that likes to stay warm- but with this easy crochet beanie I can still look cute, too!

An ad-free PDF of this pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry. The PDF includes full color instructional photos after the pattern for easy printing, color coded instructions for 5 sizes from toddler through adult large, extra notes, a very handy sized graded chart, and some extra printables that are perfect if you plan to sell your items!

Check out the Western Bay Earwarmer that is written in 6 sizes — for free!!

Fasten off leaving a long tail.

Weave the tail along the opening and cinch closed and tie off.

Weave in ends.

**Optional Pom

I use poms that have an elastic loop sewn into them.  The following instructions are using that type of pom.

Sew a button to the inside crown of the beanie.

Insert hook from the inside of the beanie between two stitches near the crown.

Grab the elastic loop with the hook.

Pull through and loop around the button.
