Free Crochet Beanie Pattern – Get By Beanie

The Get By Beanie is a great pattern for an advanced beginner! This free crochet beanie pattern has beautiful texture, great stretch and just a slight slouch. The hat is worked from the bottom up, creating the brim in rows and then completing the body in rounds. A slight decrease is added at the crown to eliminate some of the bulk when cinching closed. The free version below includes the full written pattern for the Medium adult size.

A PDF version is available for purchase on Ravelry here! The paid version includes 5 sizes from toddler-adult large and is written in a color coded bullet point format for easy reading and a printable size graded quick sheet that is fantastic if you are making multiple for your booth or gifts! There are also printable hang tags and care cards included and helpful step by step photos!

Fasten off leaving a long tail.

Weave the tail along the opening and cinch closed and tie off.

Optional Pom

I use poms that have an elastic loop sewn into them.  The following instructions are using that type of pom.

Sew a button to the inside crown of the beanie.

Insert hook from the inside of the beanie between two stitches near the crown.

Grab the elastic loop with the hook.

Pull through and loop around the button.
