The Neva Bea Wrap is an oversized triangular wrap that can be worn in so many different ways and suit any style. A simple stitch pattern creates a thick, warm fabric that is perfect for fall and winter. Bold color blocks keep this piece modern and sophisticated.
The Neva Bea wrap is super beginner friendly!! It is made entirely using half double crochet. This would be a perfect make for someone that wants to practice increases, decreases and work on tension.
When I designed The Neva Bea Wrap I had the very newest, freshest beginner in mind. I thought about myself when I started to learn crochet; 15-16 years old- stylish, young, cool??? (that’s up for debate lol!!!) with crafting running through my veins. There really wasn’t a lot in the way of patterns that screamed “Make me!!”- at least not anything at a beginner level. Cue the endless scarves of single crochet with tension too tight and misshapen blankets of double crochets that would never be used or worn.
The Neva Bea is not that!!! I wanted to create a pattern that really said “WOW” without getting complicated. I wanted something that could be finished as a second or third project but make people think “really?! You made this?!” – but in a good way lol!! Something you’ll actually wear and use and LOVE!! I wanted a piece that wasn’t going to be thrown in the back of the closet to only be seen 4 years later and get a good laugh…..and I think I put together exactly what I wanted!!

Supplies Needed:
• 3 Skeins I love this yarn (or another 4/worsted weight yarn) in 3 colors of your choice. This is what I used:
Color A: Graybeard
Color B: Graphite
Color C: Periwinkle
•Size 6mm (J) crochet hook- I’m using my fav clover amour hook. I tend to crochet a little bit tighter especially while using this hook. If you find your stitches too loose, you may want to move down to a smaller hook.
•Scissors
•Yarn needle for weaving ends
•Optional (recommended for beginners)- stitch markers
Stitches/Abbreviations:
ch- chain
st- stitch
hdc- half double crochet: yarn over, inset hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through all loops on hook.
hdc2tog- half double crochet 2 together: yarn over, inset hook, yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through ALL loops on hook. (Used for decreases)
2hdc- 2 half double crochet- you will be making two half double crochet stitches into the same stitch (used for increases)
Notes:
•all increases and decreases will be placed on the same edge of the work. The top edge will remain straight as the bottom edge angles down with increases and then angles up with decreases.
•Use a stitch marker on the edge with increases/decreases to easily remember which side you’re on.
•If you find it difficult keeping track of your last stitch, place a stitch marker into the first stitch of the row. As you work your way back down on the next row, you’ll easily see exactly where your last stitch will go.

The Pattern:
Starting with color A: ch 2
1. 3hdc in 2nd ch from hook. (3)
2. Ch1, turn. 2hdc in 1st st. Hdc in each st across. (4)
3. Ch 1, turn. hdc in each st across. 2hdc in last st. (5)
4. Ch1, turn. 2hdc in 1st. Hdc in each st across. (6)
5-74. Continue repeating rows 3 and 4. (Row 74=76 stitches)
Join color B
75-81. Working with color B, continue repeating rows 3 and 4. (Row 81= 83 stitches)
82. Ch1, turn. Hdc2tog across 1st 2st. Hdc in each st across. (82)
83. Ch1, turn. Hdc in each st across until 2 remain. Hdc2tog across last 2st. (81)
84-122. Repeat rows 82 and 83. Remember: each row will be decreasing by 1. (Row 122=41 stitches)
Join color C
123-162. Working with color C, continue repeating rows 82 and 83. (Row 162=2 stitches)
163. Ch1 turn, Hdc2tog across remaining 2st. (1)
Now you will turn your piece to work along the top edge. The first row will be the trickiest part, but this row is forgiving so don’t worry.
1. Ch1, 2hdc in the edge of the first row. Loosely work 161 Hdc evenly across the entire top edge (this should be 1hdc for each row). 2hdc in the edge of the last row.
2. Ch1, turn. 2hdc in 1st st. Hdc in each st across. 2 Hdc in last st.
3-14. Repeat row 2.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
