With it’s marled appearance, fun colors, funky pointed and tassled ends, the Marley Throw will be the perfect addition to any home! It is the perfect size for snuggling under for a good long Netflix binge; just a little bit heavy but not too hot. The Marley Throw is a great beginner project using simple stitches. This pattern is made holding two strands together, one solid and one color changing, giving it its unique look. Keep scrolling to find this free crochet blanket pattern.

Materials you will need:
2 skeins: RED HEART Super Saver Jumbo Yarn, Aran (744yds/396 grams each)
3 cakes: Mandala Wool Blend (original Mandala will work too) in any color you choose (590yds/150grams each)
Size K or 6.5mm crochet hook
Notes:
This pattern is worked holding two strands together.
I allow my Mandala colors to flow (I do not cut at the end of the row). If you do cut your yarn to control where the colors land, be sure to save your scraps, in case you need them for your tassels.
When one skein/cake runs out, I use the magic knot method to tie on the next cake. You can find my Magic Knot tutorial here.
The Marley Throw Pattern:
Holding one strand of Red Heart and one strand of Mandala together, ch 111.
1) HDC in back bump of 2nd ch from hook and each ch until the end.
2-122) ch1, turn, HDC in first st and each across until the end.
Do not fasten off.
Border
Border: ch1 turn, sl st in first st, *sk 2, 3 dc ch2 3dc in next st, sk 2 sl st in next st.* Repeat until one st is remaining. Sl st into last st. Fasten off.
Attach yarn to the opposite end of the blanket and repeat the border.
Fringe
Cut 144 pieces of each color about 11 inches long. We will be using 4 strands of each color for each of the 36 “points” across the top and bottom of the blanket.
To make the cutting process easier I wrap my yarn around the short side of a DVD case. (This will save you a ton of time and headache) See photos for clarification.
wrap the yarn around the shorter side of the DVD and then cut right through the groove that’s in the case
Gather 4 strands of each color and fold in half. Insert hook into the center of a “point” from the backside. Grab the looped end of your fringe and pull it through the “point”. Insert your thumb and index finger through the loop, grab the loose ends of fringe and pull them through the loop. Pull tight. Repeat for each “point” on both ends. See photos for clarification.
Sew in any loose ends. And you are done! Now you have the perfect boho throw that will look great in any room!
*If you choose, you can trim all of your fringe so that it is even and straight. I don’t do this. I like the imperfect look.*
Be sure to tag me in any of your makes using my pattern! I love to see your gorgeous creations and all of the fun color combinations you can come up with!!
