With just a slight slouch and gorgeous texture it pairs perfectly with jeans and tall boots for a trip to the orchard. Add the optional double brim and you’re set for the cold winter months without losing out on style. Of course this would be especially adorable paired with the Chasing Rabbits cowl! Materials needed:
Approx: 160 yards (single brim) or 200 yards (double brim): I love this yarn or another 4 (worsted weight) yarn
6 mm (J) crochet hook: I’m using my favorite, clover amour hooks. I tend to crochet slightly tighter, especially when using these hooks so you may need to size down a hook.

4″ x 4″ swatch = 13 DC x 7 rows
Stitches/Abbreviations:
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
HDC- half double crochet
BLO- back loop only

HDC2TOG- half double crochet two together; yarn over, insert hook, yarn over pull up a loop, yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over pull up a loop, (you should have 5 loops on your hook) pull through all 5 loops.
Notes:
This beanie is worked from the bottom up.
This pattern is written using US crochet terms.
hdc in the back bar; remember that hdc in the back bar is NOT the same as the back loop. When you turn your work towards you, you will see the back bar behind and just below the V that you would typically work into.
Bst- remember when working bead stitches, each bead ends with a skipped stitch. The following row will have 2 stitches worked for each bead stitch.
The Pattern:

Single Brim- ch 9 Double Brim- ch 19
- sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (8 or 18 for double brim)
2-64. ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, sc blo in next 6 st (16 for double), sc in last st.

ch 1, flip your band right side out so that the seam is on the inside.
Working in rounds:
- working along the edge of the band, sc in the end of each row. (64)
- ch 1, HDC in 1st st and each st around. Join with a sl st to first hdc. (64)
- ch 1, working in the back bar, hdc in 1st st and each st around. Join with
a sl st to first hdc. (64) - ch 2, Bst in first st and continue around (remember Bst includes a skipped st). Skipping the DC from the first Bst, join to the 2nd part of the first Bst with a sl st. (Check out this photo if my words make no sense) (32)
- ch 1, hdc in 1st st and each st around. (Remember you will be working 2 st for each Bst). Join to first hdc with a sl st.
- Repeat round 3
- Repeat round 4
- Repeat round 5
- Repeat round 3
- Repeat round 4
- ch 1, HDC2TOG across the 1st 2 st. HDC in each of the next 6 st. *HDC2TOG across next two st. HDC in each of the next 6 st. Repeat from * around. Join to the first HDC2TOG with a sl st (56)
- ch 1, working in the back bar all the way around, HDC2TOG across the first 2 st, HDC in each of the next 5 st. *HDC2TOG across the next 2 st, HDC in each of the next 5 st. Repeat from * around. Join to the first HDC2TOG with a sl st. (48)
- ch 2, Bst in 1st st and around. Join to the 1st Bst following the same method as previously used, using a sl st. (24)
- ch 1, HDC2TOG across first 2 st. HDC in each of next 4 st. *HDC2TOG across next 2 st. HDC in each of next 4 st. Repeat from * around. Join to the first HDC2TOG with a sl st (40)
- ch 1, working in the back bar all the around, HDC2TOG across first 2 st. HDC in each of next 3 st. *HDC2TOG across next 2 st. HDC in each of next 3 st. Repeat from * around. Join to the first HDC2TOG with a sl st (32)
- ch 1. HDC2TOG across first 2 st. *HDC2TOG across next 2 st. Repeat from * around. Join to first HDC2TOG with a sl st. (16)
- Repeat round 16. (8)
Fasten off. You will be left with a small hole at the top of your hat. Turn the hat inside out. Using the tail and a yarn needle, weave the tail in and out of each st around and cinch closed. Fasten off and weave in ends.
