Supplies
- Yarn:
Small hearts (each) – approximately 4 yards of worsted/aran/weight 4 yarn
Large hearts (each) – approximately 6 yards of worsted /aran/weight 4 yarn
I am using Crafter’s Secret Cotton by Hobby Lobby which is a worsted weight “kitchen cotton”. With one 2 oz ball I am able to make 8 small hearts + 8 large hearts
- 5 mm (H) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge
Exact gauge is not necessary for this project.
Small hearts: approximately 2”
Large hearts: approximately 3”
Notes
- This pattern is written using standard US terms.
- This pattern is worked in rounds.
- Ch3 at the beginning and end of round 2 count as a Tr (small heart only)
Stitch Abbreviations
ch- chain
st- stitch
sl st- slip stitch
sc- single crochet
DC- double crochet
Tr- treble crochet: YO twice, insert hook, pull up a loop, YO, pull through first two loops, YO pull through first two loops, YO pull through remaining two loops
Pattern (Small Heart)
Ch 3 (or magic ring +ch2 and work into magic ring instead)
- Work 10DC into the first ch (farthest from the hook). Pull the starting tail to cinch the center tight. Join to the top of the first st with a sl st. (10)
- Ch3,
- 2tr into same st
- 2dc into next st
- 2hdc into next st
- 2sc into next st
- Sc in next st
- Ch2, sk ch closest to hook, sl st into next ch
- Sc into next st
- 2 sc into next st
- 2hdc into next st
- 2dc into next st
- 2tr into last st
- Ch3, join to same st using sl st
(20 + ch2 at bottom point)
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Pattern (Large Heart)
Ch3 (or magic ring +ch2 and work into magic ring instead)

- Ch1, 2hdc in same st and each st around. Join to the top of the first st with a sl st. (20)

- Sc in each of next 5 sts
- ch 2, sk ch closest to hook, sl st into next ch
- Sc in each of next 5 sts

- (Tr, ch1,sc, sl st) in next st
(30 + ch2 at bottom point)
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Assembly
Cut an extra piece of yarn the length you would like your final bunting. Thread a yarn needle onto one end. String the hearts onto the yarn, working in the same direction for each, by inserting the needle under 2-4 different points on the backside of each heart. (Optional: tie a slip knot to each end for easy hanging)
